Bring Your Own Device Policy

 

Introduction

Bring your own device (BYOD) is using a personal device (computer, tablet, or phone) for work or business activities.  Those employees who wish to use their personal devices must abide by the policy below.

 

BYOD Device Minimum Requirements for Remote Access:

The device must be a Windows based computer (Desktop or Laptop).  We do not support Apple, Linux, or Chromebook devices.

The OS version of Windows must be Windows 11 or newer.  The OS version must also be a full version of Windows Home or Windows Professional.  Any other version of Windows (S Mode) or other does not meet the minimum requirements.

The BYOD device must be less than 3 years old at the time of onboarding.

 

Basic understanding of your personal device

 

Owners of the device must understand how to:

  • Power on/off and restart their device.
  • Open and close Applications.
  • Open a web browser and search.
  • Install and uninstall applications on their device.
  • Complete regular OS updates.

 

Device Support:

 

Technical support for personally owned computing devices is limited to the following:

  • Troubleshooting network and VPN errors that are on the company network side.
  • Troubleshooting the installation or the VPN client and configuration.
  • Providing software application support for software required to perform job.

 

Examples of support services that will not be provided, but not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting device performance or hardware issues.
  • Installation of new or replacement  hardware.
  • Troubleshooting network or internet connection problems on the user’s home computer or network.
  • Troubleshooting software applications or cloud services not offered or supported by Boston IVF.
  • Installing OS updates, patches, or applications not required for job functions.
  • Backing up device data or migrating to another device.
  • Removal of malware, spyware, or virus.
